Following are the aims and objectives of the United Nations:

  1. To maintain international peace and security; to take collective measures for the prevention and removal of threats to peace, to suppress acts of aggression or other breaches of peace.
  2. To develop friendly relations among nations of the world, based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of people.
  3. To achieve international cooperation in solving international economic, social, cultural or humanitarian problems and encouraging respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms.
  4. To be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of these common ends.
  5. Also, Disarm, Decolonize and Develop are the three new objectives set by the United Nations.
