What are solar cells, diodes, rectifiers and LEDs?

Solar cells are photo voltaiv cells used for converting solar energy into electricity.
Diode has only two electrodes and is used for rectification of a.c. and for detection of radio waves.
Rectifier is a device that allows the current to flow through it in one direction only. It can convert a.c. into d.c.
LED ( light emitting diode ) ia a p-n junction diode . Energy is relesed within the LED and this is given off as light.
