what are protozoans?

Protozoans are unicellular, mostly aquatic animals. They belong to kingdom Protista. They are solitary or colonial, freeliving, parasitic or symbiotic. Body shape is varied and they may show one, 2 or several nucleii. They mostly show heterotrophic nutrition. Eg - Amoeba, Paramoecium, Euglena etc.
