  • A government or police officer who arrests the person should wear clear identification.
  • A memo of arrest should be prepared at the time of arrest which includes details about the time and date of arrest.
  • It should be attested by one witness who could include a family member of that person.
  • It should be counter signed by the person arrested.  
  • A person should be informed about the reason to arrest.  
  • A person shall be produced in front of the magistrate within 24 hours of arrest.
  • A person who is arrested has the right to seek advice of a lawyer.
