What are inspiratory muscles & expiratory muscles ?

Inspiratory muscles are the muscles which carry out the process of inspiration or inhalation. These include the diaphragm, internal nad external intercostal muscles, scalenus, trapezius, pectoralis major and minor, subclavius etc.

All the muscles involved in carrying out the process of exhalation or expiration are the expiratory muscles. These include internal intecostal muscles, subcostal muscles, traversus thoracis, rectus abdominis etc.
