Homozygous refers to having identical alleles for a single trait. Heterozygous refers to having two different alleles for a single trait.
Example - The gene for seed shape in pea plants exists in two forms, one form for round seed shape (R) and the other for wrinkled seed shape (r).
So for seed shape, a? homozygous plant wo?u?l?d? ?contain the alleles ??t?h?e? ?a?l?l?e?l?e?s? ??R?R ??? ?????or ??rr whereas a ???,? ?w?h?e?r?e?a?s? ?a? ????? heterozygous plant would contain the ???alleles ???R?r??.
