Disadvantages of asexual reproduction:
- No genetic variation
- Offspring produced may become extinct due to unfavorable conditions
- Some methods of asexual reproduction produce offspring that compete with each other for food and space.
Disadvantages of sexual reproduction:
- Energy expenditure is comparatively more
- Genetic recombination is counter-productive, if conditions are stable
- Slow process
- Lesser number of progeny can be produced at a time
