Connective tissue is specialized to connect various parts of the body. The cells of connective tissue are living, loosely spaced, few in number and embedded in an intercellular matrix. The matrix may be jelly like, fluid, dense or rigid. Matrix is non-living and fibrous in nature. It shows the presence of whitefibres, yellow fibres and reticular fibres. The nature of the matrix differes in accordance with with the function of the connective tissue.
