what are co valent compuonds?

A covalent bond is formed between two atoms both of which are non-metals. Both the atoms do not have the tendency to lose electrons but to gain electrons, hence they share their valence electrons and complete their octets. This sharing of electrons results in bond formation between the two atom called as covalent bond. A compound thus formed by sharing of electrons that is containing covalent bond is referred as a covalent compound.
