Circumnutational movements are autonomous, helical growth movements carried out by the plants following internal causes. It is created by the circulation of a zone of increased growth rate around the tendril or shoot axis. This movement increases the possibility of the plant part with a support. This movement has been observed most commonly in specialized leaves called tendrils, in which the tendril tips follow a more or less regular ellipse as they move. Many seedlings and twining plants also carry out this movement.
