CBSE Class 12-science Answered
we were told that Vm/Im=Xc . Does it imply that Vm is directly proportional to Xc and Im is inversely proportional to Xc?? If so, then why is it told that the capacitive reactance Xc doent depend on the peak value of voltage in the Rapid fire round?

Expert Answer
Capacitive reactance depends on the capacitance (C) and the frequency (f) of the a.c. voltage given to the capacitor.
XC = 1/2πfC
The peak voltage depends on the capacitive reactance and not vice versa.
