Expert Answer:
The earth revolves around sun in an elliptical orbit with sun at one of its foci. It takes 8 minutes for sunlight to reach earth's surface because of the distance of the sun from the earth. It has nothing to do with the motion of earth around sun. Earth revolves around sun in its orbit, it is continuosly in motion.
