Water is flowing steadily out through the end of a vertical pipe with a velocity of 4 ms-1. What will be the velocity of water at a distance from the end of the pipe. Where the area of cross section of the stream of water be (2/3)A, where A is the area of cross section of the pipe?

Expert Answer:
According to equation of continuity:
Area x velocity = constant
A1V1 = A2V2
A x 4 = (2/3) A x V2
4A = (2/3)AV2
V2 =4 x (3/2)= 12/2 =6m/s
