WALLS OF A DAM ARE MADE THICK AT THE BOTTOM &THIN AT THE TOP.WHY?

Expert Answer:

P = hdg

F = P x a

so the force at the bottom of the dam due to water is greater than that at the top, hence the walls at the bottom are made thicker.
