Expert Answer
Let the common ratio be x, and side of the cube be y.
The sides of the cuboid = x, 2x and 4x
The total surface area of the cuboid = 2(2x2 + 8x2 + 4x2) = 28 x2
The total surface area of the cube = 6y2
Since the volumes are equal,
Volume of cube = Volume of cuboid
y3 = (x)(2x)(4x) = 8x3
y = 2x
Difference in surface areas = 28x2 - 6(2x)2 = 4x2
(Cost/m2)(m2) = Total cost
(4x2) 5 = 80
x = 2
The volume of cuboid and cube = 8x23 = 64 m3
