If a vector is in horizontal direction i.e. x axis, then its vertical component i.e. along y axis would be 0.
Let A be a vector in i direction, hence X = ai where a is the magnitude of the vector.
Now, its component in the y direction would be Xcos90 = ai x 0 = 0.
