From the relation , s = ut + at2 / 2

For , distance travelled in 1 s

3 = u (1) + a ( 1 ) 2 / 2

or, 6 = 2 u + a..................................(i)

For, distance travelled in 2 s ;

8 = u ( 2 ) + a ( 2)2 / 2

or, 4 = u + a ......................................(ii)

Solving ( i ) and (ii) , we get

u = 2 m/s and a = 2 m /s2
