Unit is the quantity of a constant magnitude which is used to measure the magnitudes of other quantities of the same nature.

This sentence is elaborated in below two lines:-

The magnitude of a physical quantity is expressed as,
Physical quantity = (numerical value) × (unit)

For example, if we are going to measure mass, then the mass of the object is expressed by numerical value (which is magnitude) and unit
Mass of object, m  is 50 kg
In this statement,
m - physical quantity i.e. mass
50 - numerical value (or magnitude)
kg - unit

Another example is time taken to travel from A to B is, t = 60 s

Here, t - physical quantity i.e. time
60 - numerical value (or magnitude)
s - unit

Below you can find explanation for types of units: -
In physics units refers to the the standard by which we can measure the physical quantities.

The seven fundamental quantities and their units are as follows : -

Fundamental quantity   Unit
Time Second
Length  metre
Mass kilogram
Electric current Ampere
Temperature Kelvin
Amount of substance  mol
Intensity Candela

Now, the line given in the question means that other quanitities other than these fundamental units are derived units.

Derived units are those which depend on the fundamental units or which can be expressed in terms of the fundamental units.

Examples of derrived units are as follows: -
