Two years ago, Jacob's age was three times the square of John's age. In three years time, John's age will be one-fourth of Jacob's age. Find their present ages.

Dear Student,
Assume the Jacobs and Johns age to be x and y respectively.
According to the first condition,
(x-2) = 3(y-2)2 .....(1)
According to the second condition,
(y+3) = (x+3) ....(2)
Now from second equation find the value of any one veriable in terms of other and substitute in equation one to get the required quadratic equation.
