Given that the distance between the two buildings , x = 200 m.
Consider the motion along the vertical :
we need to find the time needed for the the ball to cover the vertical separation between the two buiding, y = 540 m - 50 m = 490 m .
Initial velocity uy=0 , y =490 m, ay = g =9.8 m/s2
Now, the distance between the two buildings , x = 200 m.
Therefore the speed with which the ball must be thrown can be determined by :
Therefore the speed with which the ball must be thrown horizontally from window 540 m above the ground of one building to enter a 50 m high window in the other building is 20 m/s
