CBSE Class 12-science Answered
Two small iron balls each of mass 280mg are placed at a distance 10cm apart. if 0.01% of electrons of the one ball are transferred to the other, find the electric force between them ? (atomic weight of Fe=56 gm/mol)

Expert Answer
In 56 gm of Fe there are 6* 1023 aoms ( Avagadro no).
So in 280 mg the no of atoms= 6* 1023 * 280* 10-3/56.
= 3* 10 27.
In one atom of Fe there are 26 electrons.
So in 3* 1027 atoms there are= 3* 1027 * 26=78* 1027 e.
Now find 0.01 % of above no , that much electron will be transfered, then find charge on that e . One will get that much positive and the other that much negatve . Then force can be easily calculated.
