potential energy of charged metallic sphere is proportional to charge on its surface.
If two identical metallic spheres are having charge 10 and -20 units , then their potetial will be 10k and -20k where k is constant.
When these two sphere are made to touch each other, they will be at constant potential -5k
After separation each sphere will have charge -5 units
Initial Force between charges 10 × (-20) = -200k1 , where k1 is constant
Force after making them in contact and separating after = (-5) × (-5) = 25 k1
Hence ratio of forces between two sitiation = -200k1 / 25k1 = -8 : 1
