two electric bulbs of 100w and 40w are given.which one will glow brighter when they are connected in parallel? WHY?

Expert Answer:
on connecting in parallel, both of them will share equal potential difference equal to the supply. Thus since, Power, P = V^2/R where R is resistance, the 100 W bulb will have lower Resistance and thus more current will flow through it and it will glow brighter.
