Expert Answer:

sec 50 sin 40 + cos 40 cosec 50,

= (sin 40/ cos 50) + (cos 40/ sin 50)

Using sin A = 1/cosec A   and sec A = 1/ cos A

Using cos (90 - A) = sin A,

cos 50 = cos (90 - 40) = sin 40,

and cos 40 = sin 50,

= (sin 40 / sin 40) + (sin 50 / sin 50)

= 1 + 1 = 2
