To find the displacement of a body in simple harmonic motion, we have two formulas. One of them uses sine function and the other one uses cosine function. How am i supposed to understand which formula is to be used?

Expert Answer:
Both of those formulas give the same results but with the difference that in one formula, we have chosen the mid point to be 0 and in other we chosen the extreme points to be zero.
It all depends on the initial conditions.
