A series LCR  circuit with L = 0.12 H, C = 480 nf, R= 23 ohm is connected to a 230 V variable  frequency supply. Find  the maximum value Imax of the current amplitude and the corresponding source frequency.

How do we know that the I max to be calculated at resonant frequency.

For an LCR circuit driven with voltage of amplitude vm and frequency ω, the current amplitude is given by,

From the graph it is clear that the current amplitude is maximum at the resonant frequency ω0. The impedence is minimum at resonant frequency (Z = R).
Hence, im = vm/R
