three identical polaroids P1 P2 and P3 are oriented so that passes axis of P2 and P3 are incline at angle of 60° 90° effectively with the passes access a monochromatic source S and police light of intensity I note is kept in front of the proceeds p.m. as shown in figure determine the intensity of light is observed by the observed when polyps P3 is rotated with respect to P2 at angle theta

This question is confusing as posted . What I unserstand there are three polarisers P1, P2 and P3.
Pass axis of P2 is made to make 60o with pass axis of P1,

Pass axis of P3 is made to make 90o with pass axis of P2. Monochromatic light is passed through P1.
we need to determin the light intensity when P3 is rotated by angle theta.

With this understanding, I am answering the question as given below
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If Io is the light intensity that enters P1, transmitted intensity after P1 = Io /2

Transmitted intensity after P2 = ( Io/2) cos260 = ( Io / 8 )

now angle between pass axis of P2 and P3 is 30o

when P3 is rotated by angle θ, angle between pass axis of P2 and P3 becomes 30±θ

Hence transmitted intensity after P3 = ( Io / 8 ) cos2(30±θ)
