Part of the tank emptied by the leak in 1 hr = 1/8

Let part of the tank filled by the tap in 1 hr = x

Part of the tank emptied by the leak and tap together = 1/12

According to the question,
begin mathsize 16px style 1 over 8 minus straight x equals 1 over 12
we space get space straight x space equals space 1 over 24 end style
Part of the tank filled by the tap in 1 hr = begin mathsize 16px style 1 over 24 end style
Pipe can be filled by the tap in 24 hrs
Capacity of the tank 24 × 6 = 144 litre
