if -2 is root of equation kx²+x-6 then
F(-2)=0
F(x)= kx²+x-6
0 = k(-2)²+(-2)-6
0 = 4k-2-6
0 = 4k-8
8 = 4k
8/4 = k
2 = k
Therefore , the value of k is 2
