Energy Utilized by Pump in 1 min = Power × time = 5000 W × 60 s = 3 × 105 J
Energy required to lift m kg of water to a height h = ( m g h )
Since energy utilized by the pump is to lift m kg of water to a height h , then we have
( m × g × h ) = 3 × 105 J
Mass of water raised to a height h = 15 m is given as
m = ( 3 × 105 ) / ( 10 × 15 ) = 2000 kg
Hence mass of water raised by pump = 2000 kg = 2000 L
( mass of 1 Litre water = 1 kg )
