The partial pressure of ethane over a saturated solution containing 6.56*10-2(-2 is in power of 10)gram of ethane is 1bar.If the solution contains 5*10-2(-2 is in power of 10)g of ethane , then what shall be partial pressure of the gas?

Expert Answer:
According to Henry's law,
m= k x p
6.56 x 10-2 g = k x 1 bar
so, k = 6.56 x 10-2 g bar-1
Now, if new m = 5 x 10-2 g
then 5 x 10-2 g = 6.56 x 10-2 x p
Hence, p = 5 x 10-2/6.56 x 10-2
= 0.76 bar
