CBSE Class 9 Answered
The length of a train is 50 m and it passes a pole in 2 seconds.
Asked by meghagrao | 16 Aug, 2008, 04:40: PM
initial speed of the train = 50/2 = 25m/s
final speed = 3/5 (initial speed) = 3/5 ( 25)=15 m/s
average speed =u+v/2 = 25 + 15 /2 =40/2 =20m/s
This was with the assumption that the speed reduced uniformly from 25 to 15m/s while crossing the bridge.

Time taken = Distance / Average speed = 550 / 20 = 27.5 seconds
