Answer : Given :the denominator of a fraction is greater than its numerator by 11. if 8 is added to both its numerator & denominator, it becomes 3/4.
To find : the fraction.
Let x be the numerator and y be the denominator.
Hence the fraction is x/y.
Now accc to question,
the denominator of a fraction is greater than its numerator by 11.
=> y = x + 11........................................(1)
if 8 is added to both its numerator & denominator, it becomes 3/4.
=> ( (x+8) / ( y+8) ) = 3/4
=> 4x - 3y = -8 .....................................(2)
Now substituting y from eq (1) to eq (2) , we get
we get x = 25
y= x+ 11
=> y = 25+11 = 36
Therefore the fraction is = x/y = 25 /36
Answer : The required fraction is 25 / 36.
