The brakes of a 1000 kg car exert a force of 3000N. How long wil it take the car to stop from a velocity of 30m/s?

The deceleration = F/m = 3000N/1000kg = 3 m/s2.
Deceleration = (Initial Velocity - Final Velocity)/Time
Time = (Initial Velocity - Final Velocity)/Deceleration = (30 - 0)/3 = 10 sec.
Car will stop in 10 seconds.
