Let the present age of mother = x years and the present age of daughter = y years
According to the first condition, we get
x - 10 = 12(y - 10)
→ x - 12y = -120 + 10
→ x - 12y = -110 ..... (i)
According to the second condition, we get
x + 10 = 2(y + 10)
→ x - 2y = 10 .... (ii)
Subtracting (ii) from (i), we get
-10y = -120
→ y = 12
x - 2(12) = 12
x = 12 + 24 = 34
Therefore, the present age of mother is 24 years and the present age of daughter is 12 years
