Expert Answer
An important function of Vitamin C in the body is the manufacture of collagen, the main protein substance of the human body.
Vitamin C plays an important role in all immune system functions, particularly in enhancing white blood cell function and activity, increasing interferon levels, antibody responses, antibody levels, and secretion of thymic hormones.
As an antioxidant, Vitamin C also helps reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Vitamin C protects the LDL cholesterol from oxidation.
Vitamin C might reduce tissue damage and protect the skin from sun damage.
Vitamin C also stimulates the adrenal glands to manufacture cortisone, which is involved in healing.
