If algebric sums of moment s of all forces, acting on the body, about its axis of rotation is zero then the body is in equilibrium.
Thus according to the principle of moments, in equilibrium
Sum of anticlockwise moments = sum of clockwise moments
Thus,
Clock wise moment about 'O' as shown in diagram is ,
O=W1 × l1
Anticlockwise moment about 'O'
O= W2 × l2
Thus,
W1 × l1 =W2 × l2
