State the energy transformation in hydrolic dams?
Asked by vans75a | 22 Sep, 2015, 09:49: PM
answered-by-expert Expert Answer
  • Water at a height has potential energy stored in it. When this water falls down, its potential energy is converted to kinetic energy.
  • Hydro power plants utilise this kinetic energy to generate electricity.
  • Thus, these plants are built around dams.
  • The water from a high level in the dam is carried through pipes, to the turbine at the bottom of the dam. The turbine of the generator rotates, and the generator produces electricity.
