Two reasons why Britain and France followed a policy of appeasement towards Germany:
- They felt that injustice was done to Germany by the victorious nations by forcing her to sign the Treaty of Versailles.
- France and Britain also wanted to check the growing popularity of communism. They feared that if they would impose sanctions on Germany then it may initiate friendship with Soviet Russia which was a communist country then.
