Figure shows the bright object placed on principal axis at a distance u = 30 cm from a concave mirror of focal length f = 20 cm.
 
If there is no plane mirror ,  image will be formed at v, that is obtained from concave mirror equation, (1/u) + (1/v) = 1/f   .............(1)
 
if we substitute u = 30 and f = 20 in eqn.(1), we get v = 60 cm.
 
It is required to place the plane mirror on principal axis to get image coincide with the object after reflection from plane mirror.
 
Let x is the distance between object and plane mirror.  Hence  we have , 30 + 2x = 60  .................(2)
 
From eqn.(2), we get x = 15 cm as shown in figure.
 
Hence plane mirror is placed at 30+15 = 45 cm from concave mirror
