Expert Answer

take 1/x=u and 1/y=v

so the equations become

u-2v=-2...(i)

2u+v=16...(ii)

multiplying (i) by 2 and solving both equations we get,

2u-4v=-4

2u+v=16

solving,we get,

v=4

u=6

so

x=1/6

y=1/4

substituting this in the  equation, 2y=qx+5, we get

q=-27
