Expert Answer
2ax - 2by = - (a+4b)
2bx + 2ay =- (b-4a)
Solving by cross multiplication by a factor, 'b' for first equation and 'a' for second equation,
2abx - 2b2y = - b(a+4b)
2abx + 2a2y =- a(b-4a)
Subtracting these two,
2(a2+b2)y = 4(a2+b2)
y = 2
and to find x,
use,
2ax - 2by = - (a+4b)
2ax - 4b = - (a+4b)
2ax - 4b = - a - 4b
x = -1/2
