Expert Answer:
(3^(3+1/p)-15)^2-144=0
(3^(3+1/p)-15)^2 = 12^2
Hence (3^(3+1/p)-15) = +12 or -12
3^(3+1/p) = 27 or 3
3^(3+1/p) = 3^3 or 3^1
Hence 3+1/p = 3 or 1
If 3+1/p = 3, then p = infinity (not possible usually)
Hence 3+1/p = 1
2 = -1/p
p = -1/2 which is the true answer.
