Expert Answer
Let the original price of a book = x Rs.
So, the increased price = x+10 Rs.
With the original price , the number of books that can be bought for Rs. 1200 is 1200/x
With the increased price the number of books that can be bought for Rs. 1200 is 1200/(x+10)
Acc to question,
1200/x-1200/(x+10)=10
1200*[(1/x)-(1/x+10)]=10
1200*[10]=10*x*(x+10)
1200=x(x+10)
Solving by quadratic factorisation we get,
x=30
So original price =Rs.30
