Expert Answer
Soil erosion decreases soil fertility, which can negatively affect crop yields. Eroded soil materials pollute rivers. The materials increase stream load to cause floods. Erosion leaves the land bare and unproductive. The topmost soil layer is lost which results in poor quality barren land and renders soil formation a very long long process.
Weathering just involves breaking of bigger rocks into finer particles which adds to soil formation. It does not affect soil quality.
