Many scientists feel that sleep plays a huge role in brain development. Sleep is essential to maintain normal levels of cognitive skills such as speech, memory, innovative, creative and flexible thinking. Our brain needs rest after working the whole day. Sleep gives us this much required rest.

Sleep restores the body's energy supplies. Sleep is also the time when the body does most of its repair work.

Some feel that sleep allows the brain to review and consolidate all the pieces of information it gathered while awake. Others suggest that we sleep in order to allow the brain to save its resources and remove wastes and still others suggest that sleep helps us to master various skills.

Yes, plants also sleep at night.
