Expert Answer:

the polynomial ( 2x3 - ax2 + 11x +a +3 ) is exactly divisible by (2x-1) means (2x-1) is a factor of this polynomial.

so x=1/2 will satisfy the given polynomial.

2(1/2)3 - a(1/2)2 + 11(1/2) +a +3 = 0

2 - 2a +44 +8a +24 = 0

6a + 70 = 0

a = -70/6 = -35/3
