Why is the exponential function
an into function but not an onto function

Consider the following graph:
A function f from X to Y is called onto if for all y in Y there is an x in X such that f (x) = y.
But from the graph it is clear that f(-3)=f(-4)=f(-5)=.....=0
Thus, it is not an onto function and hence it is an into function.
