Expert Answer:

Light falls on leaves in the quantum energy packets called photons. Photons of the every    wavelength of light energy are captured by the leaves and processed.

Light energy is one of the pre-requisites to carry out photosynthesis. The photons are important to excite the electrons in the chlorophyll which has to reach the reaction centres present in the chloroplast. The efficient transfer of energy or electrons from molecules to molecules to the reaction centre depends on the quantum.
