Particle completes 1 revolution in 40 sec.
In 2 min 20 sec (i.e. 140 sec), it will complete 3.5 revoltions.
i.e. the particle will complete 3 full revolutions and will now be at a point diametrically opposite to the initial point.
So, the displacement, which is the shortest distance between the initial and final point is R+R = 2R.
